What a wonderful quirky story! Is anyone making perry from that tree now? I would love to try some one day, preferably while singing some jolly songs beneath the tree itself!
I have it on good authority that perry has indeed been made from this tree. The result were less than extraordinary - but whether that was down to the pear or maker I do not know!
Impressive! Did not know that perry pear trees can ‘crawl’. Like wild grapes or hops but with ability to support their own weight. Is this ‘variety’ grown also in other places and orchards? Does it ‘crawl’ also there?
Fascinating, and entertainingly told too. Does this layering habit make the trees potentially immortal, I wonder?
Good question! The everlasting tree?

Very very cool, Gabe. Watching while waiting for irrigation pressure to come up. Milder temps in Corralitos today. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thank you my friend! So great that you've now seen these old pear trees, eh?!
They’re amazing. Glad i got to witness. I’m heading home and opening a bottle of Oliver’s perry as soon as these well systems are running!
